Professor Emilie Chalmin

In Connecting Country, Emilie is applying analytical skills she developed during her doctoral research at Lascaux and other sites in France, on geo-materials and more particularly on the study of the constituents of prehistoric pigments. Combining varied analytical approaches, synchrotron-based methods and the development of synthetic protocols, her current research aims to understand how organic matter behaves on karstic rock environments. She also investigates how organic matter on rock surfaces can be used as a relevant indicator of environmental dynamics through time.
